Grzegorz Biedroń

President of the Małopolska Organizacja Turystyczna

A historian, tour guide, tour operator, and local government official who has served as the mayor of Limanowa and as a city councilor. He has also been a councilor in the Małopolska Voivodeship. Appointed by the Minister of Sports and Tourism to the Tourism Experts Council.

He was a co-organizer of “Solidarity” structures and the Citizens’ Committee “Solidarność” in 1989. He co-founded and edited independent local press. He served as the Mayor of Limanowa and a councilor from 1992 to 2002. He was the Director of the Educational Facilities Group in Słopnice. He is the President of the Krynica-Żegiestów Health Resort. Since January 2019, he has been the President of the Małopolska Tourist Organization.

He represents the residents of the Limanowa, Nowy Sącz, and Gorlice districts in the Małopolska Regional Assembly continuously since 2006. He is the Chairman of the Committee for Regional Development, International Cooperation, and Promotion, as well as a member of the Audit Committee, the Committee for Cooperation with Poles and Poles Abroad, and the Carpathian Strategy Committee.

As the Vice-Chairman of the Program Council for the Development and Promotion of Tourism in Małopolska, Grzegorz Biedroń actively participates in cooperation between local government officials, tourism entrepreneurs, the academic community, and industry organizations operating in the Małopolska tourism market.

He initiated and was one of the experts responsible for the creation of “Forecasts regarding the development scenarios in the tourism economy in Małopolska until 2021, along with recommendations for regional tourism policy” in response to the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its negative impact on the Małopolska tourism industry.

He launched an educational campaign called “W małopolskich górach bezpieczniej!” (Safer in the Małopolska Mountains!), co-financed by the Ministry of Development, in partnership with the Małopolska Voivodeship and the Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue.

As the President of MOT (Małopolska Tourist Organization), Grzegorz Biedroń is involved in the development of a new mountain tourism program, including the construction of new mountain shelters, support for existing ones, and a new promotion formula for the Main Beskidy Trail.

Grzegorz Biedroń, as MOT President, fights for the protection of the interests of the tourism industry, advocating at the international and national levels for tourism to be treated as a significant sector of the economy. For years, he has been working towards aligning Polish legal regulations with European standards, actively participating in this process.
