Deputy Sports Director of Polsat Television
Piotr Pykel is a graduate of one of the oldest universities in Europe – the University of Padua. In 2004 he defended his doctoral thesis at the European University Institute in Florence /1989 The Final Stage – on democratic transformation in Central and Eastern Europe/. He has been associated with Polsat Television and Polsat Sport since the beginning of the 21st century. Since the 2006 FIFA World Cup played in Germany he has been Deputy Sports Director and since December 2021 also Vice President of Eleven Sports, a station owned by Polsat Television. He is primarily responsible for the licensing purchases of sports channels in the Polsat Group /including the soccer Champions League, domestic and international volleyball, Wimbledon, handball, basketball and many other sports/. He negotiates contracts with the most important entities in the sports rights market UEFa, FIVB, IMG, the largest agencies and sports associations in Poland and the world. He is Secretary General of the FIVB /International Volleyball Federation Communications and Media Commission/. In addition to sports, his passions are foreign languages /he speaks English, Italian, Spanish and Czech among others/, music and Italy.
