He has competed in the Olympic Games five times, winning gold in the doubles in 2008. He won the title of World Champion four times, also in the double fours competition (2005, 2006, 2007, 2009). After the end of his sports career, he became a teaching employee at the Academy of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk. In 2015, he was appointed to the office of the Minister of Sport and Tourism. In the same year he became a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of the 8th term.
